Moyo Initiative is registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, No. 24 of 2002. This designation confirms our status as a non-profit entity dedicated to public benefit and ensures we comply with all regulatory requirements of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Our primary administrative and infrastructure focus is Dar es Salaam, where the Sanaa Arts Centre is located. However, the Moyo Arts Clubs Programme is designed for national rollout, with the pilot phase focusing on selected regions before scaling country-wide to ensure broad accessibility.
We operate under a unique Board-Controlled Governance Model. The organization is led by a professional Board of Directors that holds ultimate legal and financial responsibility. This separation ensures that all strategic and fiduciary decisions are made by the Board, while the Secretariat focuses exclusively on program implementation. This structure ensures maximum integrity and accountability.
We aim for long-term self-sustainability through a diversified funding model. While initial capital relies on grants and donations, our long-term plan includes earned income from the Sanaa Arts Centre (e.g., affordable rent for studio spaces, event hosting fees) and generating fees from pecialized professional development workshops. This revenue is reinvested directly back into our core programs.
Through the Moyo Initiative, I gained hands-on experience in project management while making a real impact in my community. It’s where volunteering meets professional growth.
